Three Artists in Trinity Living by the Sea - Art Exhibition and Sale in the Twine Loft
September 1st - 30th, 2008
• Mitzi Pappas Smyth
• Brenda Rowe - Bartlett
• Ruby LeRiche Beaumont
The three artists, Ruby Beaumont, Mitzi Pappas Smyth and Brenda Rowe-Bartlett have been art educators and practicing artists for over thirty years within the Avalon East School District. In order to combat the intense junior and senior high curriculum demands and isolationism experienced by all subject area specialists, they formed a small group of art educators who met on a regular basis to exchange ideas, discuss art related issues and participate in art activities organized within the group.

Train Show - 8pm
DADDY WHAT’S A TRAIN
A collective creation by Rick Boland, Donna Butt, Jeff Pitcher, Terry Reilly, David Ross and Glen Tilley
The Americans affectionately called her “The Newfie Bullet”, and everyone else called her the best ride in the country. In her heyday there was no better way to travel. She offered the best in food, service, fun and downhome hospitality, oh and she got you across the island too. It wasn’t fast, but you didn’t want the ride to end anyway. DADDY WHAT’S A TRAIN takes us on a journey from the first days of the railway to CNR’s take-over after Confederation to her last ride. Ride the rails with us. A great time will be had by all. DADDY WHAT’S A TRAIN was Rising Tide’s first show 30 years ago so you might even see some of the old familiar faces that started it all.

THE JOAN MORRISSEY STORY - 8pm
SO, LET’S BRING ON OUR FAVOURITE: THE JOAN MORRISSEY STORY
By Susan Kent and Jody Richardson
Commissioned by Rising Tide
Brazen, bawdy and brave, this woman was a great Newfoundland entertainer before many of our favorites of today were old enough to play a tune. She was a pioneer and a performer extraordinaire with a laugh as hearty and contagious as her own full life. With well-known Newfoundland writer and TV producer Tom Cahill penning many of the songs that became Newfoundland classics, Joan and her musical pals made them all sit up and take notice. Her life was filled with great highs and lows but she left us far too soon. Walk down memory lane with a woman who was larger than life as we celebrate Joan in this the 30th Anniversary of her death. A great cast lead by Petrina Bromley as Joan.

TERESE’S CREED - 8pm
TERESE’S CREED
By Michael Cook
TERESE’S CREED is a tribute to the women of Newfoundland and Labrador who, through hard work, humour and indomitable spirit, survived the good times and the bad in small outports in the early 1960's. We find Terese, played by our Artistic Director, at her old wringer washer and eavesdrop as she talks to herself about her fisherman husband, her kids and a time passed but much missed. She'll make you laugh and she'll make you cry - she might even make you wring out the laundry.

Come, discover, that if you can tie your shoelaces, you can learn to tie these few basic knots and share in this simple, pleasurable craft.
